Gotta Velata

Gotta Velata

I love reading blogs, I’m just not very good at keeping mine updated...but today I did something that is worth blogging about. We tried our new Velata fondue warmer and chocolate! Three words, WOW, WOW, WOW! Ok, I have a disclaimer and a confession.
My disclaimer is as of May 1st, I will be an Independent Velata Consultant (stay tuned for my website info) and I am very excited about it. I was excited about it even before I tried it. After all, the parent company is Scentsy, so I knew after being an Independent Scentsy Consultant for over a year and a half they would give us a quality product with the best Belgian chocolate to help our businesses succeed. I was excited about a new product to play with, the sales potential and growth in my team. We received it Friday evening but it has been a busy weekend so we didn’t get a chance to try it out until this evening.
My confession ~ I have never made fondue. I know that seems crazy. I don’t know why I haven’t had it, as much as I enjoy cooking and food, you would think I had, but it always appeared to be a little complicated, messy and time consuming.  Let me tell you, Velata is none of those!
I turned the Velata warmer on high and poured in about ½ of a bag of dark chocolate and started getting our dippers ready.  It took about 10 minutes to fully melt and then we turned the heat to low so it wouldn’t scorch (but I don’t think it would have had time with the way we were digging into it. There are a couple of really cool features about the Velata warmers. If you don’t finish all of the chocolate, you can cover it with a lid or plastic wrap and refrigerate it. When you are ready to get your fondue on again, you can pop the silicone dish with the chocolate into the microwave or place it back on the warmer to remelt. The other really cool feature is it is Dishwasher Safe! That is very important to me, I hate hand washing dishes and avoid buying anything that isn’t dishwasher safe.

I had just poured the Velata Belgian Dark Chocolate wafers in the warmer before this picture. It took approximately 10 minutes for it to fully melt. If you aren't that patient, the pouches can be microwaved and poured into the warmer.
A couple of our favorite combinations were:
  • *      banana, dark chocolate and coconut
  • *      graham cracker, marshmallow and dark chocolate
  • *      strawberries, dark chocolate and sprinkles

If you would like to try Velata yourself or host a party, please contact me! My Scentsy website is www.chrishyde.scentsy.us or you can e-mail me at chrislhyde@yahoo.com. As soon as my Velata website is up on May 1st, 2012, I will post that as well. Please feel free to post comments or questions!
